I have Amazon Prime, but believe I can only use that for streaming with my macbook. I would like to have movies downloaded to watch while traveling internationally. Will iTunes rentals be available offline? Is there a better way of doing this?

I know nothing about Amazon's service. From what I have read here there should be no problem with watching a rented movie as long as it is downloaded fully and the computer is authorized.
How can I ensure that it is downloaded fully? If I click play now I only have 24 hours to watch it, but I see in some forums that recent users have found they have to click play while on wifi in order to watch it later offline. Any experience with this?

I worded the question poorly. I'm really asking about iTunes rentals and whether they are available offline since it appears Amazon's are not.
I have never downloaded anything from the iTunes Store. Isn't there a little progress bar or something?
