My friend can see me on facetime but i can't see him. Help?

When I called my friend off of my MacBook Pro, he said he could see me but I couldn't see him. My screen didn't even shrink up to the top left corner like it usually does. There's definitely not a problem with wifi because both of us have strong signals. I recently got my Pro at the end of June 2015 and starting last week, I noticed problems with facetime. I use facetime almost everyday but lately, it would say "poor connection" and drop the call and when i try to call back, it freezes when i try to rotate the screen or the screen goes black or i can't see the other person but they can see me. If i can get some help as soon as possible that'd be great. Thank you.
