the apple store does not recognize my device

Hello,


I would really appreciate anyone with a solution to this issue. The Apple Store recognizes my id and password when I sign into Manage My Id but when I try to download anything from the Apple Store, I get the message that it does not recognize my device. What should I do to resolve this issue?


MacBook Air (mid 2009), OS X 10.6.8
