My iPod touch won't stop shuffling songs since latest update (10/2015)

Ever since the latest update (9/2015) my iPod Touch will not play songs in order. Since I've never enable the shuffle option (and I'm the only user of this device) I can't fathom why it has changed of its own volition. I've tried the fix listed quite a few years ago, i.e.

How do I turn shuffle off on iPod touch?

plus assorted advice from other sites/YouTube but nothing has worked. The shuffle icon is not highlighted in any color (blue, grey) and I can't even chose a song to play on a particular album unless it is somehow slotted into a random shuffle order that includes everything currently on my iPod Touch.

Please note this is NOT, NOT, NOT a Shake To Shuffle problem as I've never used that rather silly (IMHO) option either.

If it is relevant, I got this device at the lovely Grand Central Station store just under two years ago. The last time it was plugged into my iMac, where all our albums are held, was approximately six months ago.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just can't listen to a Brad Paisley, then A Green Day, then a Stiles & Drewe, then the Academy Of St. Martin in The Fields any more. It is doing my head/ears in.

TY

Try:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Unsync/delete all music and resync

To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Manage Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music

- Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore from backup. See:

Restore your device from an iCloud or iTunes backup - Apple Support

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

I was having the same issue and this helped me I just copied and paste this from another forum.............

."That's off. I just meant how to turn off shuffle on a playlist. I dug down through the forums and found the answer; you have to bring up the album art of the piece that's currently playing, then tap the screen, then the icons that control playlist order appear. If an icon is blue the function is on, if white it's off."

on my IPOD the icons are orange if its on and white if its off.

Hope this Helps it worked for me.

I Have found a method to turn off shuffle on All playlists at one time, but be warned I am not sure how to turn it back on For ALL the playlists! This works on my IPad IOS 9.3.2

1. Select Music App on the IPad and when it opens select "Playlist" at the bottom.

2. Tap twice on ANY playlist and the page with list of song appears.

3. At the top of the page, below the Playlist name, is a line with 3 symbols on the right side: EDIT, Download Symbol, 3 Red Dots.

4. Tap the 3 Red Dots and a "drop down" list appears.

5. Select " Play Next"

ALL your playlists will now play in order they are found on the Album, or however you loaded them.

Each playlist can be " shuffled" by touching the shuffle symbol, but if you select another playlist it will return to "Play Next"

I don't know how to return ALL playlists to shuffle play again. Maybe someone else can help

I think i have the solution. Had same problem - didnt recall ever pressing shuffle, but could not keep songs from playing out of order.

Here's the trick i found: if you look at the first image below on the left with the smaller album cover art, you have an album view from the iphone using Music. THE SHUFFLE ICON ON THIS SCREEN DOES NOT TURN OFF SHUFFLE. If you press it, it just shuffles again. The trick that worked for me was to select the individual song in the tiny bar at the bottom. Pressing it would bring up the second screen, where the album cover is much bigger. It's on this SECOND screen that the shuffle icon can be toggled to automatically shuffle or not. If the icon at bottom is SHADED, then it is set to automatically shuffle, and will always do so. You need to turn it off from here. Worked for me at least - hope this helps.

I was rather hoping to have the answer be: 'Go here to find the hidden shuffle on/shuffle off button'.

(Sigh. These used to be such lovely intuitive gadgets. This wide-scale fiddling with programs that work just fine has got to stop, Apple. Do you hear me?).

Since only part of our huge iTunes library is what I want on my iPod Touch -- and I don't use the Cloud -- I'll have to do all this resetting/deleting/restoring later.

Thank you very much for your timely reply, lllaass. It was very kind of you. Once I give it a go I will report back.
