After running the software update for IOS 9.0.2 I get an "unknown error (1671)" message. I have tried running the update or restoring the iPad sevaral times but the same error message appears each time

Sadly not. My iPad 2 just has an image of the iTunes icon and a power lead.
I plugged it in and still nothing. 😟
I had the same problem. Once I had updated my Macbook Pro to El Capitan I plugged in my iPad 2 and IOS 9.0.2 happily downloaded. Me and my iPad are happy again.

i am having the same problem. updating and ipad 2 to 9.1 from 8.4.1 and now cannot restore or update just getting error 1671 over and over again.
I have attempted to update my iPad2 with latest software. After completing the installation I get a error 1671 which is not lised on the follow up page. Please advise what I should do.
