Q: Network Names no longer work on LAN

I have just upgraded to El Capitan.

I can no longer access any of the LAN resources using their names. Connect only works using the IP addresses. The only way I can connect to time capsule is using a network map using IP address. iTunes no longer sees the airport express stations. I cannot browse servers by their name only their IP address.

Even after connecting using IP address the finder cannot find an icon for the network device so it displays a question mark.

Every other machine on the LAN works.

There appears to be a major issue with the new AFP stack and also with browsing netbios names. If you go to the network tab in finder there s no devices displayed when our LAN has over 200 devices (a mix of Windows, Macs and Linux machines).

Any suggestions before I downgrade to Yosemite.....
