restoring a backup with something other than itunes

Hi all, I am guessing there is something wrong with itunes since I am getting "itunes cannot restore iphone not enough space on the computer" when trying to restore my new phone with a backup of a previous phone (phone is 64gb, so plenty space - computer has 128gb free so computer isnt the issue)

I have used a free tool to extract the backup from itunes so I have all my files ready, but what can I use to put everything on to my phone?

itunes is up to date

iphone is up to date and the backup is a backup of an old phone with same software
