iPhone 6s not charging overnight

I'm having a similar problem--I plug the cable into my Macbook or the wall, and just the slightest movement of the cable causes charging to stop. I've tested the cable that came with my 6s as well as 2 certified cables which I know work fine, and it happens with all of them. Is it possible we're looking at a charging port issue?

It is possible there is something wrong with that, but you might want to make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple store to have the device examined.

Let me amend my description of the problem, because it's changed since last night.

When I originally tested charging the phone in a wall outlet, I was using a 5W adapter plug and was having the same intermittent charging problem as I was having when trying to charge from my Macbook.

Overnight I tested it with a 10W adapter plug and it charges just fine with no problems. So the issue must be something in how the computer allocates power to the USB port, or in the USB ports themselves. Charging it from the wall isn't an issue for me 99% of the time so I'm just going to do that, but it would be nice to be able to charge it reliably from the computer.

I'm not a Mac user, so I really cannot address that, but does any portion of the iMac go to sleep from non-use? Many computers have power settings that will shut down unneeded functions when the device sits idle, such as the screen, the hard drive spinning, ports, etc. Might be something to investigate. But again, I don't really know Macs, so that may not be the case. I know Windows computers will do that.

Yes, Macs do sleep unless you set them to never sleep. I don't know about the original poster's settings, but I was having the charging issue in less than 5 minutes after connecting the phone to the computer--I have mine set to sleep after 20 minutes.

I switched out cables on mine and plugged it back into the wall with the 10W adapter about an hour ago, and the phone is charging fine. It must be something weird going on with compatibility to the computer.

Take a look at my problem, it seems to be the same or very similar to yours. Do you have a wall adapter plug you can try for charging your phone?

FWIW, I have submitted the problem to Apple in Developer, since it appears to be a software or hardware issue with either the phones or the computers.
