Does time machine back up photos and music?

I'm having some issue since downloading the El Capitan upgrade. I would like to reset and delete everything but wondered if the Time Machine backs up all of my files: music, documents, and photos?

Hi Tory.

By default, Time Machine backs up everything. You can view the files on your Time Machine backup to verify that they are there.
