Can't resume download after pausing it

Have a mid-2012 15 inch Macbook Pro. Running Yosemite right now. Tried to upgrade to El Capitan, however download takes a long long time. So I paused it and was unable to resume thereafter. It indicates as waiting. Not sure how to restart upgrade. Maybe it is not the right time to do so now, saw some bad reviews about it.

Anyway, anyone know how to restart the upgrade?

Hi ElfstoneSG,

I see that you are trying to install El Capitan, but are running into some issues. I’m not sure which window you are looking at when seeing the “Waiting” message. If this is the El Capitan installer, then you might try deleting the installer package, then going to your past purchases in the Mac App Store and redownloading the El Capitan installer:

I'm having this issue as well. Deleted installer packages, restarted App Store and I still have the "waiting... [PAUSE]" there.

I also try from the El Capitan product page, but the Download button just shows my cursor when I hover over it and try to click

I found this in another conversation. It's downloading now... We'll see if it continues.

Re: Paused downloading El Capitan and now it won't start downloading again in response to hectortott Helpful Helpful

i found a way to fix this problem

1> need to go into your HDD and find Applications Folder

2> Search for El Capitan Download file OS X El Capitan.appdownload (i used the search at the top of page make sure your only searching the applications folder)

3> you need to delete this file

4> go into launch pad and hold down on a app so that they wiggle and the ✖ is showing above the app

5> delete the corrupt el capitan app

6> go back into app store and restart download
