Oct 7, 2015 2:36 PM in response to mpadweeby alex_h1,Hello mpadwee,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
I see from your post that iTunes is quitting unexpectedly whenever you plug in your iPhone to your Mac. As a first step of troubleshooting this issue, I suggest that you reinstall iTunes by downloading the installer in the link below.
iTunes - Download iTunes Now - Apple
Take care.

Oct 7, 2015 3:26 PM in response to alex_h1by mpadwee,Thanks, I downloaded the new installer, re-installed iTunes, BUT the same problem occurred. I plugged my iPhone6 into iTunes and had to force quit. I left my iPhone plugged into the computer, restarted iTunes, and, again, had to force quit. What next?

Since the reinstall didn't help, I next suggest that you follow through the steps in the link below.

Oct 9, 2015 8:21 PM in response to mpadweeby IMRAN,What I find mind boggling is that EVERY single MAJOR app in Mac OS X El Capitan has crashed on me since this worst ever upgrade.
Mail was a nightmare with crashes for the smallest reasons or even sitting idle. Safari keeps running but pieces of it keep throwing crash dialogs. And iTunes crashed during a sync of the iPhone 6+ which it had done fine just 2 days ago.
Truly frustrating and almost as if Apple now uses Microsoft engineers and quality (lack of) control.

Dec 5, 2015 10:31 AM in response to mpadweeby KonaHI,This was happening to me. After dozens of different fix attempts, and thousands of thread searches, I finally found this which seems to have solved the problem:
Find Library>Application Support > Sync Services.
Trash the Sync Services folder.
Voila!
