6s not importing into photos

when i connect my iPhone 6s to my 2013 iMac, photos opens up as normal and seems to go through the process of importing off my phone up until i updated to

9.0.2 and now it seems to import, but the thumbnails are blank, i then airdroped one of the pics to my iPhone 6 which was still running 9.0.1 and it imported fine. When its finished so called import photos comes up with unreadable files or the import process just crashes.
