Transferring photos to 6th gen iPod touch from iMac 10.6.8

Just purchased a new Ipod touch 6th gen to replace my 5th gen which has a dwindling battery. My iMac is older and I can't upgrade past 10.6.8 so the iMac doesn't "see" the new iPod through iTunes. Instead, I used iCloud to transfer important data (like contacts, calendar, etc.) but, no photos made it. I certainly don't need my entire library of hundreds of photos on the new iPod but, is there a way to transfer selected photos from my iMac to the new iPod?

If the Image Capture app can't see the photos then you can install the DropBox app on both the computer and iPod (different apps) and then from the DropBox copy them to DropBox and access them DropBox on the computer
