Q: iMessage sending as Text message

When imessage is unavailable it will send it as an SMS. A reason is maybe you or the recipient are in an are with a weak wifi or cellular data signal.

My imessage does the same thing when I go fishing and the area I'm in has a week signal.

it seems to be linked to iMessaging/texting people who have not upgraded to iOS9. i'm having the same problem but it only manifested since i upgraded to 9.0.2. people i text who have upgraded go through fine, but otherwise it's a mess.
