My Ipad Air or my Iphone 5 is not recognized

When I connect my IPad Air or my IPhone 5 to the USB port on my Computer It is not recognized. I have a Classic and a IPod touch and when I connect them they are recognized. I am using an authorized cable and I have tried more than one cable. The cable gets a proper connection when I use it to charge the devices. I have tried the Help links regarding the Apple Mobile service and it is installed on my computer. I am running W8 and have updated my two devices to IOS9. Can anyone suggest what I can do next? Thanks

Sounds like you need an iTunes update (or upgrade) as well. Have you tried that?

Hi! To sync devices with iOS 9 on board, you need to have iTunes 12.3. Try updating iTunes on your computer as it was suggested above.

Everything is updated. When I connect with my IPod Classic or IPod Touch they are both recognized but my IPhone 5 or IPad air are not recognized. Any further suggestions?
