I recently looked at the list of extensions installed in my Safari browser (v9) and I noticed an extension called Eladiolus 1.0. I don't ever recall installing this and I can't find any mention of it anywhere. Does anyone know what this extension does?

That extension is not even available for download from the Safari Extensions gallery. It may have been removed by Apple or the developer.
Since you don't remember installing it, better to uninstall it.
Go to Safari > Preferences > Extensions. There should be an Uninstall button.
