When I go to interact and choose chat I get this message: Chat is not authorized on this computer.
How/where do I authorize the computer to be able to chat?

Start text chat and send messages is one of the settings available in the Remote Management option in the Sharing Preferences Pane. Have you enabled it on the client you're trying to chat with?
