Can I take the SIM card from a pay-as-you-go T-Mobile to an unlocked iPhone 4s.

I have a pay-as-you-go T-Mobile GSM that I can no longer get batteries for. I also have a relatively new GSM Unlocked iPhone 4S 32GB that requires a micro SIM .

Can I take the full size SIM from the old phone and have T-mobile transfer it to the iPhone 4S micro SIM size and get it to work? All I care about is having the phone work. (I realize I would need to sign up for a data plan to get 3G performance but I don't care about that right now.)
