I have no option to add my number to iMessage

I Tried to set up imessage and i can only add emails there is no option to add a phone number. I dont know what to do, if its any help I have an iPad mini aswell.

iPhone 5c, iOS 9

For the iPhone, the phone number for iMessage is gotten from the SIM when you activate iMessage. It is automatic. I suggest that if you look at Settings>Messages>iMessage, it is probably not activated. Try turning it off again, restart the phone, and then attempt to activate it again.
