iPhone Keeps Prompting "Allow this device to access photos and videos?"

I have a iPhone 6 and ipad 3 that iPhone Keeps Prompting "Allow this device to access photos and videos?" just started with last iTunes update. I have latest ios updates and running Microsoft 10.

Also neither show in iTunes to sync. Cannot locate anything in preferences in iTunes related or that makes a difference. I give permission but nothing happens after that. I have restarted everything and uninstalled iTunes but no help. Reset iPhone and lost all my settings and wifi passwords, that ****** me off. no luck.

I have plugged into a laptop running 8 and latest iTunes with no issues to test cables......worked fine on windows 10 until last iTunes update???

any help appreciated.....

thanks -mike

If your iOS device isn't showing in iTunes try the following:

  1. Open Control Panel > Device Manager
  2. Plug in your device
  3. Locate Universal Serial Bus Controllers > Apple Mobile Device USB Driver.
It is also possible the device may show under Imaging Devices, Portable Devices or Other Devices or as an MTB USB Device.
  4. Right-click and select Update Driver Software...
  5. Click Browse my computer for driver software
  6. Browse to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers or
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
  7. Click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
  8. Click Apple Mobile Device USB Driver
  9. Click Next, then Close and exit Device Manager

For step 3 above, open the device manager. Expand any of these sections that are listed.

  • Universal Serial Bus Controllers
  • Imaging Devices
  • Portable Devices
  • Other Devices

Connect the device. You should hear the telltale sound of Windows device connection and one section should gain a new entry. That should be your device. It may not be labelled correctly at this stage. If you don't hear a noise suspect a damaged cable.

Or try If iTunes doesn‘t recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod - Apple Support

Failing that try a full tear down and rebuild of iTunes as set out in Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

Or lastly try rolling back to the last build of iTunes that worked for you. See iTunes installers for download links. If you're rolling back from 12.4.0.119 to 12.3.3.17 or 12.3.2.35, for example, then you'll also need to roll back the library database in the manner described in Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash. The tip includes suggestions for reintroducing any recent purchases so at worst you lose a few playcounts and/or a recently created playlist.

Thank you! I had tried everything except dunking everything into the bathtub including following a solution that told me to go to the same place except to use the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Device Support\netdrivers folder. I didn't think to try the "drivers" folder right next to it.

I've got an update in the queue and needed to back up to iTunes first but was unable. I was ready to reinstall iTunes to fix this when I found your solution. Thank you!

Oddly... With the "other driver" installed, I can see my iPhone 5S and its DCIM folder in Windows Explorer. With the driver that allows the iPhone to be seen and sync'd in iTunes, it does not show up in Windows Explorer. I can use iCloud to retrieve pictures so no big deal.

just spent a long time with tech support -glad I had apple care....... its a windows issue. I will try to give steps as I remember.....with your phone plugged in.

open device manager, find portable devices, click on small arrow to open it up. u should then see iPhone. right click and select update driver software. Click browse and find C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers select that option then next and it should load up driver.

If you are using iTunes 12.3.3.17 with Windows 10 this will not resolve your issue. I have tried every fix that is out there and nothing is working. I am very frustrated with this and doesn't surprise me that Microsoft has caused this problem by trying write a unique driver for the apple devices. When will they ever learn.
