iPhone 5 continuously reboots after 9.0.2 upgrade

After upgrading my iPhone 5 to 9.0.2, it entered into a reboot cycle immediately. It would power on and boot up for a few minutes, then go black and restart. If I do multiple hard restarts, it will eventually stay on. However, when it does stay on, the battery percentage indicator no longer works and remains at whatever value it was when the phone was first turned on. Anyone else seeing this problem?

Also, for those that can relate, I attempted to run AST2 diagnostics on the phone, but system preferences kept crashing and prevented me from being able to see anything about the diagnostics. This would also initiate the reboot cycle.
