El Capitan on Early2009 and airplay
I am in the process of downloading the El Capitan upgrade. Will airplay with my AppleTV work?

We have not done an update since I think Lion... Version 10.7.5 is what we have currently.
We have been able to use the apple tv with our mac and would hate to lose that.
Airplay via iTunes will still work for you.

Thank you! Have been searching all over to figure out why I can't use AirPlay which is why I bought AppleTV. Now I know. Older systems! Dadgummit
You can still use iTunes Home Sharing to share music and movies to your Apple TV.
