On My Mac folders missing after El Capitan upgrade

Recently upgraded to El Capitan and after some struggles with incompatible plugins was able to get mail to work. However, I now have a new problem that my local "On My Mac" folders are missing!

Have tried looking everywhere, no joy. Anyone have any ideas?
