Q: Icloud for Windows does not work with Outlook 2016

I am running a pc with windows 10 and using iCloud for windows to interface with my outlook.

I upgraded to Outlook 2016 and had a problem so I ended up removing office completely and installing office 2016 from scratch.

When I try to associate my apple email account with outlook 2016 using iCloud for Windows it gives me an error that iCloud needs to be repaired.

I have done this several times and still get the same message, so I completely removed iCloud and reinstalled it directly from the Web. Same result.

Is there a fix for this or is this just a case of the iCloud product not yet upgraded to work with Outlook 2016?

I Cannot install it at all. I'm getting installation errors across three different computers all of which are running 8.1 and all of which worked before   I installed Office 2016.

I also get the same error message. Apple, this is frustrating, and I am utterly disappointed, to say the least. Not only the fact, that my e-mail side has been rendered useless, it's also the amount of time I have wasted with this. This has never happened to me before with Apple products.

I called Apple support and have an open ticket running. I urge everyone who is affected to do the same.

Whoever was in charge of the update at Apple and has made the decision that access to photos is more important than integration with Outlook 2016, which is clearly a productivity application, is in the wrong job in my humble opinion.

It is more than a month now that Outlook 2016 came out, and we are all left in the dark as to when the problem will be fixed - if Apple at least explained why they did not address the problem...

I agree. with all the complaints regarding this issue, to have version 5.0 come out and still no support and worse yet no comment or even false promises from Apple is very discouraging

Well folks, I posted a letter about this to Apple out here and they didn't like it - removed my post... Said I had violated the rules.  MY BAD.

Seriously, I think that what we all really want is something that works again.  Terrible to have functionality that once was, disappear... POOF   Like that.  And not being able to go back -- well, it makes you go, "hmmmm"...

Frankly, I don't care who fixes it, just so someone does -- and soon.  Noticed that there is yet another iOS update on the ol' iPhone today, nothing mentioned about a fix to this particular issue, however. Bummer.  I did start shopping, tho' -- just in case something isn't done in a timely fashion.

    Feeling:  abandoned...

It would be really swell to see someone from the head office to post to us some reassuring words out here as to when the collective "they" will fix this issue.

Can't stand at the doctor's office and make an appointment in my iPhone without seeing my meetings is a real pain...  Guess I have to remember how to do it the old fashioned way and start carrying around one of those "integrated" diary-books again, using a ballpoint pen...  None of you probably remember those days...  I guess we wait or decide our options if nothing happens.

Hello to all - initially I had installed Office 2010 32bit - on Win10Pro + iCloud - I believe latest was  4.1 - syncing and cooperation with outlook was OK, later as Office 2016 appeared - I uninstalled 2010 and installed 2016 32bit - still all worked fine - today as I installed the update to iCloud  5.0 -> boom I have the message "Repair iCloud for Windows to use iCloud with Outlook" - of course first uknown try was several times reinstall and uninstall of iCloud 5.0 ... of course no help.... really strongly dissapointed that newest platforms don´t sync.... I hope it is  not intentional

Still on Apple to make some type of official response to this incompatibility of iCloud and Outlook 2016.  When will this be fixed?

I don't know what Apple is doing......but I'm tired of waiting......I think I'm going to look hard at windows based phone next update.........Apple doesn't seem to care about us.........they don't even have the courtesy to communicate with their customers........guess they're too big!

This Outlook 2016 problem is still here because they DON't care.........or maybe they don't know Office 2016 for PC came out over a month ago!

Actually, before you updated to iCloud v5, the release notes detail that it does not support Outlook 2016. So, as others have stated that Apple has not said anything, yes they have. Emphasis is mine from the release notes.

    iCloud for Windows v5

This update adds support for iCloud Photo Library and two-factor
    authentication for Apple ID.

    iCloud for Windows v5 requires:

    Microsoft Windows 7 or later

    • Outlook 2007 or later or iCloud.com
(for Mail, Contacts, Calendars). Outlook 2016 is not supported.
    • Internet Explorer 10 or later, Firefox 22 or later, or Google Chrome 28 or
      later (for Bookmarks)

    See iCloud system
    requirements
    for additional detail.

I just downloaded the latest update to Icloud for Windows and received the same error messages I have been receiving , moreover the details listed on the download dialogue specifically state it will not support Outlook 2016.  Apple is doing a real disservice to those of us who use both platforms and when Microsoft releases it's own phone/pad I will have to switch.

A quick follow up to this thread:  Received error messages from all three computers specifically detailing the inability of the program to install.  Yet, one of the three computers (all running 8.1) is functioning with Calendar.  In response to a previous post while Apple's inability to offer a reasonable update for most of us annoying specifically Outlook 2016, there is no excuse for the Icloud for Windows update not being able to be installed at all.

I have just installed iCloud 5 in the hope this would fix the problem, even worse.  After installing the Task Bar gets in to an endless loop rebuilding and the screen flashes black.  I had to go to task manager to stop the problem by "ending" all iCloud related services and then uninstall it.  I will revert to the older version so that I can sync the photostreams and wait a proper fix.  Come on Apple sort it out.
