Q: Icloud for Windows does not work with Outlook 2016

I am running a pc with windows 10 and using iCloud for windows to interface with my outlook.

I upgraded to Outlook 2016 and had a problem so I ended up removing office completely and installing office 2016 from scratch.

When I try to associate my apple email account with outlook 2016 using iCloud for Windows it gives me an error that iCloud needs to be repaired.

I have done this several times and still get the same message, so I completely removed iCloud and reinstalled it directly from the Web. Same result.

Is there a fix for this or is this just a case of the iCloud product not yet upgraded to work with Outlook 2016?

Turns out that Click-to-Run installations are not supported !!! So in other words Office 365 subscriptions...

    I can't believe this...

Thank you for solving the mistery. I'd rather not comment any further and just wait longer for an eventual fix

I think the only Microsoft office  product iCloud syncs with is outlook. OneDrive manages the office apps on Apple devices. I have an iPhone, iPad and a Lenovo Windows 10 running iCloud sync 10.1 and Office 2016 (thru office 365) i had to log out completely of iCloud after install. Every thing is working now with iCloud 5.1.

Both my Windows 10 / Outlook 2016 computers are on my Office 365 subscription and both worked properly after the iCloud 5.1 upgrade.  So the common thread is not Office 365.

Well I can't get anything to work, so there is clearly something wrong somewhere...

I don't know what else to try.

Could it be that I have Office 365 University?

I'm really clutching at straws to explain this because it just makes no sense other than an incompatibility still being present.

How can I fresh install everything and then on the first opening of the icloud for windows program i get this message:

    Capture.PNG

It just doesn't add up. Unless it still isn't compatible with my version of Office 365, which has been fully updated and repaired more times than i can count.

Any more thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    James

I am guessing you have done the repair route? Have you uninstalled iCloud, restarted computer then download fresh version from Apple? I've used several other university programs and I don't think that is the issue. If you've done all that I mentioned submit a customer service request with Apple. They worked with me on the phone when I tried to install 5.0 and it failed- no cost.

Cannot think of any other course of action.

Yep I've tried that and it hasn't helped.

Okay i'll give that a shot. Does that involve emailing them or ringing?

Here is what worked for me.

I downloaded the icloud 5.1 and after it installed i opened icloud storage.

I unchecked the box [contacts calendars and tasks] and Apply

Then i rechecked the box [contacts calendars and tasks] and Apply

    icloud and outlook resynced.

    Hope this works for you

Unfortunately icloud 5.1 isn't working for me with Windows 10 Office 365 2016. Will try all of the suggestions on this forum in hopes I can get it to work.

(Win 7 64 bit, Office annual license) I downloaded iCloud 5.1, did an update, tried to update the Outlook 2016 calendar and contacts, then got 'unexpected error'. All my contacts and calendar disappeared - luck I did have a backup.

Uninstalled iCloud, reinstalled 5.1, same result, with all contacts and calendar disappeared.

Repeated again with some slight variation in the selection process - same result.

I'm happy that this has worked for some, but this stuff up by Apple is very annoying.

Found a solution.  I began having the same problems discussed above after an update to Office 2016.  I had previously had a problem with updating icloud as each update would fail.  Thus, I was still using icloud 3.1.  In forums on that update problem, there was a solution that involved deleting various directories and registry keys.  Uninstalling the earlier version of icloud using Norton Utilities removed all of the "droppings" icloud left behind even after an uninstall via windows.  I downloaded the latest version of icloud (5.1) directly from Apple and all is now well in my world.
