Mail trash button doesn't always work

With most email messages I can click on the trash icon in the message window to delete it. With emails from Pinterest, clicking on the trash icon closes the window but it doesn't remove the message from my in box.

This only happens with email from Pinterest.

Mac Pro, OS X Mountain Lion

Try using the delete key.

Thanks, but the issue is why the trash button does not work with emails from only this one source. It is totally exclusive. I spent a lot of time as a beta tester and the odd nature of this messes with my brain.
