How can I convert an ePub file and use it as a mobi file on a kindle app ?

If all you have is an iPad not possible.
If you have an iBook Apple computer from 2006 and earlier, there may be older PowerPC programs that work, but finding such programs is difficult.
Not knowing which Mac operating system you have, we can't give you firm advice on that.
Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac and get your Mac OS version with any X indication as well.
