How to I eliminate the notification for the iPhoto update on my Macbook?

I understand that the "Photos" app replaced iPhoto, but for some reason, the App Store keeps asking me to update iPhoto. My problem is, I can't seem to get rid of the notification on the App Store and make the update go away. I did try updating it (just in case) but all it says, is that the update is not available and the app is not available in the US. How do I get rid of the update and notification?

Having sort of the same issue but with aperture.

That ghost update badge is driving me insane.

For iPhoto u should be able to trash it from your applications folder and get it fixed.

For me is a bit different because Aperture is not installed on my mac and never was for the past 2 years.
This is happening on a freshly installed El Capitan.
