can't copy documents on external hard drive after El Capitan update

I tried copying documents on my Seagate external hard drive after updating to OS El Capitan but it's not possible.

It says I can only read it. I could format it but would lose all my files.

Is there anyone else having the same issue?

Is there a way around it?
