iTunes 12 won't install on Windows 10

I recently re-installed Windows 10 on my computer. At present, it's about as clean an install as could be. No matter how many times I try to install the latest version of iTunes I get the error message per the screenshot below. Microsoft support was not helpful. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

That message at the current time seems to be associated with Apple Software Update. If you can find it in the programs and features control panel attempt to repair and then remove it, then try installing iTunes again. Otherwise read on.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.

Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.

The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.

Your library and device backups should be unaffected by these steps but there are links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

If the issue persists and you have a 64-bit system try the for older video cards version which is a 64-bit installer for mostly 32-bit code, similar to all 64-bit versions of iTunes up to 12.1.

If you've tried the above without success then see the method in Install missing components. What component fails to install, and what error message does it give? See this post for steps to produce detailed logs of the installation which may reveal why iTunes won't install. Look for words like failed or error.

Thank you for taking the time to post all this information. I tried much of what you listed above and there is no change. What's strange is there are no entries in my Control Panel -> Programs after several attempts:

The above represents the entirety of what I have installed. As you can see, there is practically nothing installed on my computer so I can't imagine what would be interfering with the install. I looked in the Program Files and Program Files (x86) folders and there is no hint of Apple programs therein after the iTunes installation abends:

I even downloaded a prior version and the same error occurs. What's interesting is that the installation completes very quickly. It cycles through each of the components (Apple Software Updater, Bonjour, etc.) very quickly and none of the install bar ever turns blue:

It just stays blanks for a second or two and then moves on to the next component until it gets to the end and give the error I posted originally. It's like something is blocking the installation file from doing anything. I tried installing another program (an FTP Client) just to see if there was a permissions issue but the installation of that program went through OK. I'm really stymied here. Any further suggestions you can think of?
