How can windows users play Keynote presentations?

Keynote is so much more elegant than PowerPoint. When exporting Keynote to .pptx much is lost in the transition. Is there a way for those unfortunate souls using Windows to view/present a Keynote presentation (possibly using iCloud drive)?

I have suggested to Apple many times over the years to develop a "Keynote Player" for this purpose, but obviously this has fallen on deaf ears. If Adobe can do it with Acrobat and Microsoft can do it with PowerPoint Viewer, certainly Apple can do it with Keynote. It is very frustrating that Apple refuses to do this, but also that they have a policy of not responding to any feedback whatsoever.

Having said that, I must say that Apple's customer service is the best in the world!

I found a similar question of about a year ago, and among the answers I found this. I think that it answers your question.

Some of these answers have truth to them, but do not answer your question directly.

Although there is no Keynote application program for Windows, you can in fact present a Keynote presentation through any up to date browser (including Internet Explorer/Chrome/Firefox/Safari on Windows) on iCloud.com via Keynote for iCloud. Just login, open your presentation, and click the play button!

However, the experience is in my opinion not ideal. Local fonts won't carry over and many transitions and animations, the very ones that make for a premiumexperience, simply don't work that well or don't work at all.

Keynote for iCloud beta: Play a presentation

In the end of the day, I would push for physically bringing a Mac to your classroom - whether it's personal or from your college's IT department. In my experience most classrooms have VGA connections that allow you to connect.

Hello Bob!
You can convert your presentation to video, which doesn't have the navigation options other than the regular video controls (play, pause...)

What I found really neat was to convert it to HTML and play it from a browser (I use Chrome). Keep in mind that some animations, such as Wipe, won't be loaded properly, so if your presentation is animation heavy you might want to test it and simplify it.

Hope it helps!

It might be a great idea, but remember that you are talking to other users here, not Apple.

When you do contact Apple to give them your feedback, note the statement at the top of the page

http://www.apple.com/feedback/keynote.html

"Use the form below to send us your comments. We read all feedback carefully, but please note that we cannot respond to the comments you submit."

If you notice in my request, I asked if there was any way for Windows users to play a Keynote Presentation, not an exported-into-ppt/pdf version. I have done both of those, but have had to alter exported .pptx files, and sacrifice animations in pdf files.

I also acknowledged that Apple has a policy of not responding: "...but also that they have a policy of not responding to any feedback whatsoever."

I guess I was hoping that with iCloud beta, one could play a Keynote presentation over the Internet without having to have the Keynote or PowerPoint application. So far no response to that question.
