Use AirDrop to send content from your Mac - Apple Support
My thoughts, based on what you've told us:
- Have you turned on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on both Macs?
- Check that the Mac Pro does not have "Block all incoming connections" set (as described in the article).
- Did you try "Don't see what you're looking for?" on the Mac Pro?

WiFi and Bluetooth is turned on, Firewalls are both off, and strangely enough there's no "Don't see what you're looking for" option available on the Mac Pro! I'm running out of ideas here... If I send something from the Mac Pro to the MacBook Air, the Mac Pro appears in the AirDrop window of the MacBook Air as long as the file is transferred. When it's done, gone!
