My brand new macbook pro has arrived with 6 battery cycles count. Is this normal? It really bothers me when others are saying 1 or 2 on their new rMBP.

Yes. That represents the results of testing during build and Quality Testing.
Totally normal. the battery has to be charged and discharged for testing. They could probably lie to you and set the count to zero... this just shows you what they actually did.
Not to worry.
The cycle count on your battery is 1000. This will most likely outlast your computer.
