Headphone Recognition

Before updating to iOS 9, my iPhone 6 used to recognize headphones and headphones w/ a mic separately.. When I would hook up a headphone jack (the aux input with just two bands), it would have the volume set specifically for that device - great for my car. When I would hook up my Apple brand iPhone headphones (with the mic - three bands) it would recognize those separately and have a specific volume set when playing music. This feature seems to have gone away. Has anyone seen differently or figured out a workaround? It would be nice to have the ability to manually set these volumes.

I have seen to have further issues, where my alarm tone volume seemingly disappears as well and I will have to restart in order to get the volume to be available..
