Is there a way to turn off the proactive assistance feature, which is new with the IOS 9 update?

Is there a way to turn off the proactive assistance feature that is new with the IOS 9 update? When I use the controls on my headphones to turn off an audiobook to talk to someone, music starts blaring in my ear. I can hit the control again to turn music off but to turn audiobook back on I have to go back into the phone, otherwise I just keep getting music. Very frustrating!!! It was working perfectly and now it is not. Can I turn this feature off? Please say yes! I understand the logic behind this feature, however, I do not always listen to the same music, playlist, artists, etc. everytime I listen to music so to me not a useful feature. Plus, I often listen to audiobooks and then music at other times.

iPhone 5, iOS 9.0.2

You could try going to settings < general < spotlight search and turn off Siri Suggestions.
