Do you actually mean iChat or do you mean Messages ?
Which Account type ?
An @mac.com ID used as an AIM Screen Name in iChat 5 or lower will no longer work. (In fact it will not work until at least one OS Update to Lion to make iChat the version 6.0.1 version).
If it is Messages and the iMessages account if you have 2 Step verification turned On you need to create and Application specific Password and enter that instead of the regular Apple ID password.
