I'm trying to delete an icon off my iPad 2. I have updated to iOS 9. When I tap on and hold the icon on the main screen, it wiggles but there is no "x" to delete it. How do I delete it.

I'm trying to delete an icon off my iPad 2. I have updated to iOS 9. When I tap on and hold the icon on the main screen, it wiggles but there is no "x" to delete it. How do I delete it.

I have updated to the ISO 9.0.2 version. I have noticed a new icon on my Ipad2 called "News". I looked in settings and it is right under safari. I didn't upload the app. Now I'm trying to dele this app. If I tap and hold onto the app, there is no "x" to remove it. How do I remove this app off my home screen. Luebkel.

I looked at the other apps wiggling and they also don't have an "x" to delete.

This is a new app built into iOS and cannot be deleted.

IF you can't delete it how/why I can't delete other apps. I went on utube and found to got to setting, general,usage,show all apps, it doesn't show all of my apps. And why if I tap and hold the icon, there is no "x" to delete any app. I need to know how to delete any app on my ipad2.

If you see no 'x' on your purchased apps, go to settings - general - restrictions to see if you have 'deleting apps' restricted. As noted, you can't delete the iOS apps.

when I tap and hold onto any app on m ipad2 it will wiggle but there is no "x" to remove the app. It is wpith all apps. games, notes, contacts, safeway, etc.

It is all apps. Apps like notes, contact, Safeway, They all will wiggle on the main screen but there is no "x" to on the icon. Is there a new way to delete an application?

Open the Settings app > General > Restriction and see if you have Restrictions on, and if so, what you are restricting.

I have no knowledge of a Safeway app, but Notes and Contacts cannot be deleted

under restrictions, It shows off. Then under restrictions it shows in blue "enable restrictions" Under that all apps are grayed color. I haven't ever changed that. I have never changed that to enable restrictions.

If Restrictions is OFF, the other settings are - or should be - irrelevant.

Try a forced restart: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the restart.
