I use iCloud as my email proider but it is very slow in loading and deleting messages/mail

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop with Windows 10 and I use iCloud as my email server on all of my devices but when I open mail on my laptop it takes forever to load messages or delete them. What can I do to make iCloud Mail more functional?
