Magsafe serial number --> production date

Hope somebody can help me out here. I bought a replacement power adapter, which just after half a year stopped working.

Can't find the receipt anywhere, but it has a serial number. If the serial number says, it's produced less than a year ago, it for sure is sold less than a year ago and therefore under warranty.

Anybody out there who knows how to read the magsafe serial, or refer me to a site?
