How do i install my airport pcmcia card in my 1998 266mhz pdq PowerBook G3?

Its running 10.2.8 and when i stick in the airport card, I don't get any response and it doesn't show up in the apple system profiler. Although when it was booting, it ejected it so i can assume the card and slot work. I tried in both slots but i also noticed that you have to connect a wire to it to get it to work. How do i do this? I know its possible to do this on the 1998 PowerBook G but I dont know how. Can you help me please? Thanks! (My description says mac os 8.6 but i upgrade to 10.2.8 recently.)
