You cannot do a Secure Empty Trash any longer. If you keep sensitive material on your drive, then you should use FileVault to encrypt the drive if you haven't done so when you installed El Capitan.
To Empty the Trash CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the Trashcan in your Dock and select Empty Trash from the context menu. You also have empty Trash options in the Finder's Finder menu.
Kappy, this was the first time I saw 'secure trash', and, there was a message "some files could not be deleted because they are locked". Never saw any option to lock trash, not did I lock any trash. PS It took hours to delete the trash.. crazy
