Whenever I want to creat a new email I have to sign in to my iCloud account

Whenever I want to create a new email out of Apple's Mail I keep getting a message saying there's a problem with connecting to my account and could I sign in.

I'm running El Capitan on a new Macbook 12-inch.

Any assistance would be welcome.
