my power off button stopped working and when i try to go to assistive touch and hold the lock screen it doesnt work either so i tried to reset the network settings to attempt to turn the phone off (5s). how long does it usually take to do that.

Unfortunately, with a broken button, there is no way to perform any of the other troubleshooting steps. You can try allowing the device to drain the battery to the point of shutting down and then plug it in to restart. Otherwise, you will need to get the power button repaired.
Reset Network Settings does not power the phone off. Also, if you hold down on the lock screen button, it should provide you with the Slide to Power Off prompt. That should only take a few seconds.
yeah i hold it down and it does nothing but lock the phone
