updated to el capitan and now when i use my bluetooth speaker it says its connected but sound still plays from laptop

like i said my computer says my bluetooth speaker is connected but the sound still only comes out from the laptop and not the bluetooth speaker. Ive used the same IHome bluetooth speaker for the past year and it has worked perfectly withy MacBook Pro but now that i have updated to el capitan it is not working.
