Quicktime Screen Capture no Quality Options

The latest version of the QT X player (v10.4) under Yosemite and El Capitan employs "adaptive" Screen Recording option that captures video in H.264 and varies the frame and data rates dependent on the CPU power of your system, size of the screen area being recorded, and number active apps/processes. In addition, the H.264 codec itself is somewhat adaptive based on the graphic complexity of the screen content being recorded. This basically means that on a given system, the smaller the recorded screen area—the higher the quality while on different systems recording the same content in the same dimensions, the more CPU cores available and the higher the clocking speed—the higher the output quality.
