Q: Front Row killed by El Capitan System Integrity Protection ?

I get an error msg when I try to run Front Row.  The error is the classic "-10810".

 

I've installed OS X 10.11 on my Mac Mini.  Up till now I have been using Front Row on the Mini.  I did that my copying the Front Row binaries into CoreServices and PrivateFrameworks then invoking FR with an AppleScript.  The 10.11 SIP, however, protects those folders.

 

After updating to 10.11 which remove the FR binaries, I disabled SIP then copied the FR binaries back into those two folders.  I got the -10810 error.  I have tried various changes to the AppleScript with no luck.

 

I've switched to Kodi for the time being but, it would be nice to get back to my old favourite Front Row.

 

Does anyone know of a way to get FR working in 10.11 ?

    To me it sounds silly to hack the security on your Mac to the point where is basically disable so that your Mac is then open for attack for something as outdated as Front Row.

    True, it sounds a bit extreme.  But, SIP is on top of all the other security measures and so disabling it for a time doesn't leave the Mac wide open.  Anyway, after installing the FR binaries I have re-enabled SIP.

     

    I did have FR running under the earlier beta versions of 10.11 (when there was an SIP option in the Recovery partition utilities menu).  So, I've been hoping it's still possible to get it working with SIP enabled in the current 10.11 release.
