App Store update icons grey/missing

For quite some time now, several of the App Store icons for updates are grey and missing. This is happening on both my iPad Air 2 and iPhone 6s. Scrolling through the list and back to the top usually reveals the missing icons. Not a big deal, but irritating since its been happening for months now. I'm not sure if this is an iOS bug or some sort of a server issue on Apple's side...

Anyone else seeing this?

Thanks for all your comments and further observations. I am still waiting to hear back from Apple - I should be expecting a reply within the next 24 hours - but as I sent them the link to this discussion, the more people contribute to this forum, the more they will appreciate the concern this is causing.

I share ColinD3's frustrations. Although a seemingly minor issue, I'm troubled by the fact that (a) Apple let it happen in the first place and (b) that even if it has already been spotted by them, that it's still not resolved. Given most of their business model is based around the App Store, you would thought this would be a priority for them and they'd not want their customers to be inconvenienced for any length of time. I realise it would be overkill to send a message to everyone to say they know there's an issue - and a very obvious one at that - but it wouldn't be too difficult to post a message on the App Store home pages to confirm they are working to resolve the issue; nor to issue updates via Twitter to those that follow them.

I have heard back from Apple. They had a look this discussion and here is the key extract from their reply.

"...this issue is with iOS 9.0.2 and the majority of customers are having a similar issue including you and me. Although I tried some troubleshooting steps to see if this resolved the issue, it didn’t. I would suggest you to contact our Technical Support team as speaking to someone over the phone is probably the easiest way to resolve this.

They can be reached by phone at this number: 0800 107 6285

In a meanwhile I would have some patience until Apple releases the next update for iOS update for iOS 9.1 soon. May be that will resolve the issue."

I have no plans to call the Technical Support team, as I'm not sure they'll be able to add much, but if any of you do, then do share what they say.

Not wishing to put down Apple experts, I find their reply difficult to understand. I updated to iOS 9.0.2 on 3rd October, and have since received 15 updates upto 8th October, which all show the correct icon. Since 8th something has changed as all updates 10 so far now all show the blank icon.

I have raised a support case as well and will report back what sort of answer I get.
