I'd like to connect my two MacBook Pros to create an extended desktop.

My older (mid-2009) MacBook Pro is a 5,3 model with an mini-display port, running on os 10.6.8. The newer (2015) one is an 11,4 model with two Thunderbolt ports running on os 10.10.5.

I'd like to connect the two to create an extended display.

Is it possible to do this? I haven't found any literature confirming so.

If so, what do I need to make this possible?
