Now I know this question is probably a bit premature to ask but does anyone know if the Apple pencil will work with an iPad Air2? Im not sure if I want to drop that kind of money down on a first generation product like that but I do like the idea of being able to use the Apple pencil in the new notes app that came with iOS9. So if anyone has any information I would appreciate hearing it. Thanks in advance.

What about the opposite. Will stylus from other manufactures work on the new iPad pro? There are a few I've been looking at which I would like to use on my iPad air (the costs are about half of the Apple Pencil) however I don't want to purchase something that won't be compatible with the iPad Pro (I intend to purchase it in 2 or 3 months).

It may well work, but probably not with all the available functionality of the Pencil.
The more research I do, I agree, it won't work the same as the Pencil. Just wish it wasn't so expensive. But hey, that never stopped me from my Apple product compulsions. 😁

Considering the level of functionality it provides (or will provide), that price is actually inline with a number of the more expensive stylus devices.
