iPhone 5s headphone jack broken?

i was listening to music with earphones in when suddenly all I got was a bunch of static. I thought maybe they were my earphones so I plugged it into my iPad and everything played fine. Got a new set of earphone and again static coming from the phone. It plays music and other audio fine as long as the earphones are not plugged in. Is there anyway to fix this? Is itsothing that is under warranty? can i take it to the Apple Store and have them repair the issue?
